LEARNING TARGET: I CAN USE THE SKILLS I HAVE LEARNED IN CLASS TO CREATE A SHORT FILM.
Short Film Choice
This assignment will be a culmination of your skills learned in class. Students will create a shot list and gather information to include in their video.
This time you will get to choose the project you would like to complete. You must choose one of the projects on the choice board below to complete. Your final video should be 4-5 minutes including an intro and ending. The video will be edited as a group. This is your chance to show off the skills and concepts you remember.
Each square of the choice board is a story starter. You will choose your story and write a short proposal. After the proposal, you will either complete a shot list or a script with shots on it. Make sure to use music and narration and titles in your editing for any video you choose.
Pre-Production
LEARNING TARGET: I CAN COMPLETE PREPRODUCTION FOR MY PROJECT.
-
Step 1: Proposal - write a short description of your project.
" A video about characters walking their dog on a leisurely stroll. The dog sees something and takes off, almost dragging the person behind then. When the dog gets to the edge of the woods it stops and growls. The dog owners look at each other and one decides to venture in to see. The other waits for an hour calling for their friends every so often. They head home to get help. When they arrive home, their friend is there watching TV. They never went on the walk in the first place."

Use the outline below to help guide your story
1. Set Up & Intro to Characters-Where are we? Who? Establishing shot. And Character wants to do something. Medium
2. Conflict- Something happens to cause distress - Close Up
3. Reaction- Character's reaction to conflict Medium
4. Climax- Conflict grows/problem gets worse and the character appears to have no way out, conflict is the tensest/ Extreme Close up
5. Resolution- How the conflict is resolved, the problem is overcome, and Order is restored (fade to black). Long shot

-
Step 2 - complete a shot list as seen below or a script with shots as in the previous assignment. You will have one scene per person in your group. A scene is a specific location or time. If you change location and time, you change your scene.
