Model A Car

In this lesson, students will learn how to use a cube and turn it into a car using a reference image. Students will add in materials and a background to complete the scene.

LT: I can use loop cuts to model a car

Model Car Part 1

LT: I can model a basic shape of a car using Blender tools

Model Car Part 2
 

LT: I can fine tune my car using the loop cuts and tools in edit mode.

Students will finish modeling the body of the car rounding edges, making windows and lights.

Add in Mirror, Door Handle and Antenna

LT: I can work with faces to extrude parts of the car.

Students will create a the mirrors, and door handles by extruding and the knife.

Add Materials to Car Body

LT: I can create different materials in edit mode to add to the car

Students will learn how to create multiple materials to add to different parts of the car.

Create the Wheel

LT: I can use a cylinder to create a wheel by insets and extrusions.
Students will learn how to create a wheel for their car. They will then duplicate it and place it to have 4 wheels on their car.

Rig the Car to Animate

LT: I can use an add-on to rig the car to animate a driving motion.
Using the Rig-A-Car add on, learn how to install and add to your car. This add on can be found either in Classroom or on the button below.  Rig-A-Car will allow you to add in a path for your car to follow and cause the wheels to turn as the car moves.

Create Your Scene

LT: I can create a scene for my car to drive through during my animation
This step will give you different objects to add into a scene for your car to drive through and make the animation look more realistic.
