Edit Mode

In this lesson, students will learn how to use Edit Mode in Blender.  This will build upon what they have learned a in the previous lesson about Object Mode.  In Edit Mode, they can make modifications to objects by extruding, creating insets, beveling and making slices to edges and faces.  Students will also learn how to edit materials to specific faces.

LT: I can use Edit Mode in Blender at a basic level.

Edit Mode Part 1

LT: I can extrude, inset, bevel to change my objects.

Edit Mode Part 2

LT: I can add multiple materials to objects.  I can add in a camera and a light.  I can render the image.

In this video, students will learn how to add different materials to a single object while in Edit mode.  Students will also set up their scene for rendering to get ready to turn their work in.

Make a Pencil in Edit Mode

LT: I can use edit mode to create an object.  I can compare the different modes for creating in Blender.  I can use an image for context in Blender

In this lesson, we will create a new pencil by using a cylinder added in object mode. Then switching to edit mode, we will be able to finish creating the pencil.  Students will learn the benefits of working in both modes to create objects.

Add Materials to Objects

LT: I can refine the shape of my object using edit mode.  I can create and add materials to an object in edit mode.

Learn how to refine the shape of the pencil to smooth out edges.  Then learn how to add materials to objects while in edit mode. Edit mode allows one to add different materials to different parts of the object.

Render Pencil

LT: I can fix my camera and render an image

Now that you have the pencil made, add in the camera and lights.  Then we will add in a plane for paper and rotate the pencil to look like it is writing.

Create Your Own Mechanical Pencil or Ball Point Pen

LT: I can use my skills in Blender to model a Pen or Mechanical Pencil in Edit Mode.

Use one of the images in Google Classroom to create your own Mechanical Pencil or Pen. Must have different shaders on the pen and one must be a metallic material. Must have all the parts of the pen or pencil. Must be rendered with good lighting.
