Program Mode & ISO
LT: I can use the different camera modes to take photos.
Professional photographers use "Manual Mode" to take photos. In this lesson, we are going to learn how to use all the different modes leading up to Manual mode. The 3 we will learn about are Program, Tv, and Av. We will also learn about ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture and learn how to control the light entering the camera.

Analogy for Understanding: Using Program Mode is like learning to ride a bike with a single training wheel. Unlike "Auto Mode" (two training wheels), Program Mode lets the camera handle the most difficult balance (exposure), but it allows you to start leaning into the turns by choosing your own ISO and seeing how the "gears" (Aperture and Shutter Speed) react to your choices.
Program Mode & ISO
This is the most basic of the different modes as the camera chooses your settings to make sure the exposure is correct. Students will use program mode to learn how to use the camera as well as how to find the Aperture, Shutter Speed, and change ISO.
Students will turn in a document recording this information in each of the photos as well as a contact sheet.
Assignment #1 Use the handout to guide your shooting. This handout will be turned in along with the contact sheet.
