LT: I can use the basic functions of a DSLR Camera

Camera Basics

DSLR cameras are all pretty much have the same basic parts. Most differences are found in where the buttons are found and the software the camera uses.  In this class, students will have Canon cameras and lenses.  We have a few different types of Canon Cameras to use, so your camera may not look the same as another person's camera next to you.

Analogy for Understanding: Learning the basics of a DSLR is like learning to drive a manual transmission car. While most people are used to "point-and-shoot" (automatic) phones, a DSLR gives you control over all the gears and buttons; you have to learn where they are and how they work together before you can take the car—or the camera—out for a real drive.
