3D Printing
Students will learn how to 3D print several items on this page. We will learn how to size and create different items as well as how to use the 3D printers.
3D Print Your Coin
LT: I can create my own coin and I can slice my coin and prepare for 3D printing
Using the skills from the Modeling Skills - Create a coin assignment, make your own coin to 3D print. Pay attention to making sure you do not have too much small detail (see examples) but making an interesting design. Once you have the coin designed, render the coin and turn in the PNG. Then download the program Cura. Once downloaded, follow the steps to prepare your coin to be 3D Printed. Think about what material you will want to use.
Turn in PNG file and STL file of your Coin to Create Your Own Coin
Keychain with Text
LT: I can use the text tool to create a personalized Keychain.
Turn in Render of Vase, STL File and G-Code file
Render should have materials and good lighting as well as camera angle for print. STL file should have your name as part of the file name. The G-Code should have your name and the name of the object (IE. StClairVase). The G-Code should also have the correct slicing information for printing. In the private comments, please enter the dimensions from the slicing program so I know how big to print your item if there are mistakes with your G-Code file.
Make a Vase 1
LT: I can use the screw modifier to create different vases to 3D Print.
Make a Vase with Bezier Curve
LT: I can use the bezier curve and screw modifier to create different vases to 3D Print.
3D Print Mug
LT: I can use subdivision surface modifier to create a 3D Mug to Print..
Turn in Render of Mug, STL File and G-Code file
Render should have materials and good lighting as well as camera angle for print. STL file should have your name as part of the file name. The G-Code should have your name and the name of the object (IE. StClairRing). The G-Code should also have the correct slicing information for printing.. in the private comments, please enter the dimensions from the slicing program so I know how big to print your item if there are mistakes with your G-Code file.
Assignment 1: Create Your Own Chess Pieces
LT: I can use what I have learned to create my chess pieces for my game
Using what you learned from Modeling - Rook, Pawn, Knight, create your chess pieces based on a theme. Must have all 6 pieces. Use the assignment in Classroom to help design your chess games, select your theme, draw out a rough outline of the pieces, or submit an image for each of the 6 pieces you have to create. Once the design is approved, start to build each piece in Blender. Once you have the 6 pieces created in Blender, add in a camera and a light to render an image of all 6 pieces
Turn in the Rendered Image of Your 6 Chess Pieces and STL files for each one
Lithophane
LT: I can use subdivision surface modifier to create a 3D Mug to Print..
Turn in Screenshot and stl file of Lithophane
To take a screenshot of the image, press command + shift + 4. The click and drag to select the area you want a photo. The file will save to your desktop, look for screenshot with the date. STL file should have your name as part of the file name. The G-Code should have your name and the name of the object (IE. StClairRing). The G-Code should also have the correct slicing information for printing.
